Chemin des Guedères
The winter walk in Les Guedères transports you gently into the landscape of the Pre-Alps, through the pastures at the foot of the mountains.

Les Paccots, Les Rosalys–Les Guedères–Les Paccots, Les Rosalys
From the charming Les Rosalys restaurant, the path climbs through the forest to keep you warm as far as Les Vérollys, the lower stop on the ski tow. It then climbs away from the ski runs to the Chalet des Crêtes, on practically flat terrain. As you emerge from a small wood, a picture-postcard view opens up in front of you. Snowy pastures, a chalet blanketed in white and in the background, the high mountains of the Pre-Alps: the Dent de Lys, Folliu Borna and Vanil des Artses, all rising to almost 2,000 m. The path continues to wind through the forest, with a series of short climbs and flatter areas where you can get your breath back.
Finally, you emerge onto a vast area of pasture that sparkles in the sun. Here and there, wooden chalets dot the snowy landscape. Everything is peaceful at this time of year. The only occasional sign of life is a chamois or two on the rocky walls that surround the valley. In the summer, the picture is very different, with a large herd of grazing cattle, whose milk is used to make delicious Gruyère cheese... with a little imagination, you can almost picture the scene, even in the snow.
Once you reach the Chalet des Guedères, retrace your steps back to the starting point.
